Kat Scarlet was born in the north-west of England in 1975. She emigrated in 1998 to Western Australia, and now lives and works in Lutruwita/Tasmania in the Huon Valley. After attending art college in the early 90's, she went on to have a career as a jeweller and tattoo artist. Known for her use of detail and pattern, as well as her distinctive, self-described ‘hyper-colour’ palette, Kat now mainly works with acrylic on board and canvas, but also enjoys works on paper using gouache, ink and watercolours.

 

Kat identifies as a proud queer, AuDHD person. She likes to be out and proud about both these things and talk about them in her practice, hoping she can educate others and answer questions that people are afraid to ask.
