Inspired by Japanese maneki-neko or ‘Lucky Cats,' Kat gave one dozen cats from various Naarm/Melbourne ‘no kill’ shelters imagined ‘forever’ homes. The houses and apartments shown in the body of each cat are all real residences from the Naarm/Melbourne area.

In collaboration with a local ceramicist, Kat also hand sculpted a clay maneki-neko from which six slip casts were made in bone china. Each one was hand painted and glazed.
