Inspired by Hartz Mountain National Park in Tasmania.

"Another cold, wet day at Hartz but this doesn't stop us from having a walk. And besides, we are equipped with hot soup for when we get back to the car. The week previous, we had taken our daughter to the thermal pool at Hastings. There, the steam had risen off the tepid water. She got in and declared how 'warm' it was through chattering teeth. When we reach Lake Osbourne there is mist rising off the water. "I want to go in," my daughter declares. "I suspect that it's going to be very cold," I say. She looks at me as if I am a fool. She knows that vapour rising off water means the water is warm. She strips off and heads in. "It's FREEZING" she yells. I didn't have the heart to say "I tried to warn you." At 7 years old, she obviously knew best."
